  5. This Read Me is designed to help you to get optimum results from this CD-
  6. Rom. If after reading this you still have any problems installing or
  7. running the CD-rom, then  call the Williams Technical Support number
  8. on +44 (0)171 250 0917.

  10. The CD-Rom will run best if you close down any other applications which you 
  11. may have open. This will automatically give you the maximum RAM available 
  12. in your machine.  The more applications which you leave open, the slower 
  13. this CD-Rom will run.

  16. OVERVIEW

  19. The CD-rom comes free  with Creative Review magazine for all subscribers. It 
  20. is designed to be complementary to the written word in bringing you the latest 
  21. creative work in moving pictures - video, audio and graphics in a multimedia 
  22. format.  
  23.  
  24. We hope that you enjoy this product and we are keen to hear your views.  For

  34. This CD requires QuickTime 3.0 to play digital video content.
  35.  
  36. Previous Creative Review CDs (before CDRom 40) require QuickTime 2.1 to be installed.
  37. You can, and should have, both versions installed.
  38.  
  39. If you have QuickTime 3.0 installed and not QuickTime 2.1 you will not be able to view 
  40. the video on any issue before number 40.

  44. The install program for this software is included on this CD in the 'Software' folder

  49. This product includes a copy of Shockwave¬ for Director, which enables the playback
  50. of high impact multimedia on the World Wide Web. For further information regarding

  56. MINIMUM SYSTEM CONFIGURATION

  59. We have created this product to run on a system with the following minimum 
  60. specification:

  64. 14 inch colour monitor (standard 14 inch Apple colour monitor)

  72. Please note: The CD-Rom will not play on Windows 3.1/Windows for Workgroups

  74. This product needs all the above items to run.  You need QuickTime 3.0 or 
  75. later to run the Creative Review CD-Rom.

  77. If you do not have QuickTime for Windows 3.0 already installed on your system
  78. then the setup programe will install it at your request. (Please refer to the
  79. Apple licence information included in the Legal Read Me section for usage
  80. limitations). The software loaded is Windows system software, and will not
  81. conflict with any other Windows standard software.

  83. The movies on this disc will run at optimum quality if you view this product on 
  84. a 16-bit display - a monitor running in thousands of colours.  The Creative 
  85. Review CD-Rom will run on an 8-bit monitor, but will look better with 
  86. thousands of colours.

  143. To set up, select Start/File menu and choose Run. Use the Browse to locate the
  144. CD-Rom and select setup.exe then click OK.
  145.  
  146. Now follow on screen instructions to complete the installation. The programme will
  147. install a programme group so that this CD-Rom and subsequent issues can be accesed
  148. from the main Programme Manager. This installation need only be activated when
  149. you view your first disc.

  208. Software and fonts in machine-readable form for backup purposes only. You

  211. Software and fonts. You may also transfer all your licence rights in the

  228. any provision of this Licence. Upon termination you must destroy the

  231. 4. Export Law Assurances. You agree and certify that neither the Software 
  232. nor any other technical data received from Centaur Communications Limited, 
  233. nor the direct product thereof, will be exported outside the United States 
  234. except as authorised and as permitted by the laws and regulations of the 
  235. United States. If the Software has been rightfully obtained by you outside of 
  236. the United States, you agree that you will not re-export the Software nor any 
  237. other technical data received from Centaur Communications Limited, nor the 
  238. direct product thereof, except as permitted by the laws and regulations of the 
  239. United States and the laws and regulations of the jurisdiction in which you 
  240. obtained the Software.

  242. 5. Government End Users. If you are acquiring the Software and fonts on 
  243. behalf of any unit or agency of the United States Government, the following 
  244. provisions apply. The Government agrees:
  245. 1) if the Software and fonts are supplied to the Department of Defence (DoD), 
  246. the Software and fonts are classified as "Commercial Computer Software" 
  247. and the Government is acquiring only "restricted rights" in the Software, its 
  248. documentation and fonts as that term is defined in Clause 252.227-7013(c)(1) 
  249. of the DFARS; and
  250. 2) if the Software and fonts are supplied to any unit or agency of the United 
  251. States Government other than DoD, the Government's rights in the Software, 
  252. its documentation and fonts will be as defined in Clause 52.227-19(c)(2) of 
  253. the FAR or, in the case of NASA, in Clause 18-52.227-86(d) of the NASA 
  254. Supplement to the FAR.

  256. 6. Limited Warranty on Media. Centaur Comunications Limited warrants the 
  257. diskettes and/or compact disc on which the Software and fonts are recorded 
  258. to be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for a 
  259. period of ninety (90) days from the date of purchase as evidenced by a copy 
  260. of the receipt. Centaur Communications Limited's entire liability and your 
  261. exclusive remedy will be replacement of the diskettes and/or compact disc not 
  262. meeting Centaur Communications Limited's limited warranty and which is 
  263. returned to Centaur Communications Limited or an Centaur Communications 
  264. Limited authorised representative with a copy of the receipt. Centaur 
  265. Communications Limited will have no responsibility to replace a disk/disc 
  266. damaged by accident, abuse or misapplication. ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES 
  267. ON THE DISKETTES AND/OR COMPACT DISC, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED 
  268. WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A 
  269. PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ARE LIMITED IN DURATION TO NINETY (90)

  278. Communications Limited's Licensors (for the purpose of provisions 7 and 8, 
  279. Centaur Communications Limited and Centaur Communications Limited's 
  280. Licensors shall be collectively referred to as Centaur Communications 
  281. Limited) EXPRESSLY DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR 
  282. IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED 
  283. WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A 
  284. PARTICULAR PURPOSE. CENTAUR COMMUNICATIONS LIMITED DOES 
  285. NOT WARRANT THAT THE FUNCTIONS CONTAINED IN THE SOFTWARE

  321. 9. Controlling Law and Severability.  This Licence shall be governed by and 
  322. construed in accordance with the laws of the United States and the State of 
  323. California, as applied to agreements entered into and to be performed entirely 
  324. within California between California residents. If for any reason a court of 
  325. competent jurisdiction finds any provision of this Licence, or portion thereof, 
  326. to be unenforceable, that provision of the Licence shall be enforced to the 
  327. maximum extent permissible so as to effect the intent of the parties, and the 
  328. remainder of this Licence shall continue in full force and effect.

  330. 10. Complete Agreement. This Licence constitutes the entire agreement 
  331. between the parties with respect to the use of the Software, the related 
  332. documentation and fonts, and supercedes all prior or contemporaneous 
  333. understandings or agreements, written or oral, regarding such subject matter. 
  334. No amendment to or modification of this Licence will be binding unless in 
  335. writing and signed by a duly authorised representative of Centaur
